All of the members of “classicsoulmusic70sstyle@yahoogroups.com,” myself included, just received the following email:

Hello everyone, sorry to have to post this very sad news, but Mr.
Johnnie Carter (the world’s best tenor) of The Dells, passed away this morning! He had cancer,it took its toll,  please pray for his family and for  The Dells, they are heartbroken!  And might I ask, please go and see our music legends, support them, give them thier [sic] props, time is running out fast!

  2. This is so so sad.The Dells are my all time favourite group and although this was going to happen sooner or later it doesn`t make it any easier to accept.I will forever treasure their only UK appearance a decade ago even more now.
    My deepest sympathy goes out to Johnnie`s family and friends and of course his brothers the mighty Dells at this moment.

  3. I am so sorry to hear the passing of Johnnie Carter. The Dells were so close-knit and I never missed them when they came to Philly.

    He will be miss.

Very sorry to hear a bought the death of one of my old and dearest friends would like to know how tom reach family members we all lost contact through moving and life style changes over the years I’ve know them from 1955 when I was a teenager and Johnnie was with the Flamingos Pleas let me know when and were the service is thank you so much
