This Old Heart of Mine (Is Weak For You) Performed By The Isley Brothers (1966)

Isley Bros June 09 #2

The Isley Brothers – This Old Heart of Mine (Is Weak For You)  1966 #6 R&B, #12 Pop

This was the group’s biggest chart topper during their short tenure at Motown.

I just had to do two Isley Brothers posts in a row because  Ron Isley’s tenor is  “contagious”  like  those chips that you just can’t eat just one of (LOL).  I promise a new Motown Guy group next post — but in the mean time please enjoy this favorite of mine.  Listen to those Funk Brothers  horns: aren’t they just fabulous on this  Lamont Dozier/Eddie Holland/Brian Holland/Sylvia Moy classic?!

The Isley Brothers were *finally* inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum as performers in 1992. You may read a brief career biography on the Brothers at the Rock Hall site here.

  1. this is one of my favorite Isley Brothers song! i see why it was such a big hit. i read on wikipedia that this was originally meant for the Supremes but im happy it went to them lol

    • If what Wiki says is true, then I would have to agree with you Supa, that that The Isleys were the better choice for this song. I will have to do a bit of research on that statement though because of the source. (SMILE)

      • yea, cant ever be too sure with wiki

  2. I really love them, Isley Brothers is one of my favorite artist… And i love to listen with their songs…
