“I Wanna Be Your Man” Performed by The Beatles (1963)

The Beatles – I Wanna Be Your Man (1963)

The Rolling Stones were in dire need of a song in 1963 for their second single and had not yet begun to write themselves.  So when approached,  the songwriting team of Lennon and McCartney literally dashed off  “I Want to Be Your Man” in short order and gave it to them.

The Stones had a bluesy hit with it but so did  The Beatles when they later gave it to Ringo to sing lead on a faster version both in concert and on record.

The song appeared on the the second Beatles’ album released in the United States, recorded in 1963,  “With The Beatles.”  And of course if you haven’t quite figured it out yet — this February’s musical posting theme is “Beatlemania and more: By Jingo it’s Ringo!” — featuring the songs that Richard Starkey sang lead on as part of the Fab Four and as a solo act.

And here is The Stones original version for good measure.
